Autism is the fastest growing developmental disorder. 1 in 88 children born today are affected . It has no racial, ethnic, or social boundaries, and is four times more likely to strike boys than girls. Despite the high prevalence and growing health care costs associated with caring for a child with autism, autism research receives less than 5% of the research funding of many other, less prevalent, childhood diseases.
The Topping Brothers are working to change that. The Topping Brothers are a close knit band, literally a “Band of Brothers” in action working to support Autism Speaks, the leading 501c3 non-profit advocating for research and treatment for those afflicted with Autism. While supporting Autism speaks is their main goal at this point, our little band of brothers is not only supporting Autism Speaks, but is planning a foundation with longer term battle plans such as providing scholarships for families that cannot afford the therapies that are available.They recently held a golf fundraiser to raise money for autism research, but more donations are needed.
